Egypt Strengthens Digital Transformation Efforts in Meeting with World Bank VP

Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, recently met with Sangboo Kim, Vice President of the World Bank for Digital Transformation, to discuss ways to enhance collaboration on Egypt’s digital transformation initiatives.

During the meeting, the two leaders focused on key areas including the development of digital infrastructure, improving digital skills, and raising digital awareness. Talaat highlighted the importance of Egypt’s Digital Egypt Strategy, which aims to leverage technology to improve various sectors, facilitate government digitization, and encourage innovation.

Talaat also emphasized the strategy’s role in preparing young people for future job opportunities and increasing accessibility to digital platforms. He outlined efforts to expand fiber optics and replace outdated copper cables to improve connectivity across the country.

The Minister praised Egypt’s ongoing partnership with the World Bank, which has been instrumental in supporting the development of digital infrastructure and facilitating the country’s digital transformation. Vice President Kim acknowledged Egypt’s progress, noting the alignment of the country’s efforts with the World Bank’s goals of reducing the digital divide, improving cybersecurity, and promoting AI technologies.

The meeting also discussed future areas of collaboration, such as expanding submarine cables, building more data centers, and enhancing nationwide internet services to further promote digital inclusion. Both sides recognized the significant advancements made in digital governance and real estate wealth management in Egypt.
