Huawei, the China-based electronics manufacturing giant, announced this week that its official app distribution platform, Huawei AppGallery, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Esports Federation (EESF), a government-backed esports body in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but under the deal, the two parties aim to collaborate to drive innovation and growth within the esports and mobile gaming sectors across the region.
The MoU was signed by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Sultan Bin Shakhboot Al Nahyan, President of the EESF, and William Hu, Managing Director of Huawei Consumer Business Group for Middle East and Africa Eco Development and Operation. The partnership will combine Huawei’s technological expertise and global reach with the EESF’s leadership in esports governance and advocacy.
The focus of this collaboration will be on nurturing local talent, supporting gamers and developers, and creating new opportunities within the esports ecosystem. The EESF, recognized by the UAE government, is responsible for developing and regulating competitive gaming in the country.
