Nokia and Zain KSA have teamed up on a groundbreaking project aimed at transforming mobile connectivity for businesses in Saudi Arabia. Their collaboration will introduce the region’s first 4G/5G Femtocell solution, which is designed to optimize enterprise connectivity and improve indoor mobile coverage across the Kingdom.
As part of the deployment, Nokia will provide 4G and 5G smart nodes integrated with its proprietary IP Security Gateway and Femto Manager solutions. These innovations are set to ensure secure, reliable, and consistent 4G/5G network availability at business locations, enhancing network efficiency and user experiences. Haitham Baba, from Nokia Saudi Arabia, highlighted how the smart node solution will optimize customer experiences and network traffic management.
Abdullah AlHadlag, Vice President of Zain KSA, remarked that this initiative supports their commitment to adopting sustainable, future-ready technologies and aligns with the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The collaboration is part of Zain KSA’s efforts to drive digital transformation throughout the Kingdom.
This partnership builds upon Zain KSA’s larger digital infrastructure strategy, which includes a SAR1.6 billion ($427 million) investment announced last year to enhance its 5G network and digital services. The expansion plan will provide 5G coverage across 122 cities, benefiting approximately 66% of the country’s populated areas.
Zain’s roadmap also includes the rollout of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) services, with plans to introduce this next-generation technology in the eight largest cities by 2026. As part of its ongoing efforts, Zain KSA aims to integrate Internet of Things (IoT) CCTV for public security, utilizing RedCap technology.
