SecurityPal Helps Startups Streamline Security Questionnaires from Kathmandu

SecurityPal, a startup based in Kathmandu, Nepal, has created a niche in helping tech companies like Airtable, Figma, and OpenAI streamline the cumbersome process of answering security questionnaires for potential clients. This process, which often involves hundreds of questions about data privacy, staff background checks, and security infrastructure, is critical for securing big-business deals.

SecurityPal uses a blend of software and human expertise to turn around these questionnaires quickly and cost-effectively, often delivering completed forms within 24 hours. The company’s hybrid model integrates AI with the expertise of its human analysts, ensuring both speed and accuracy. This has allowed SecurityPal to expand rapidly, reaching an estimated $10 million in revenue and achieving a $105 million valuation after raising $21 million in a Series A funding round led by Craft Ventures in 2022.

Founded by Pukar Hamal, SecurityPal operates with 180 full-time employees in Kathmandu, offering competitive salaries and building a thriving tech hub in Nepal. Hamal, originally from Nepal, has emphasized his goal to create opportunities and develop local talent, challenging the traditional outsourcing model by focusing on high-quality, full-time employees.

SecurityPal’s success highlights Nepal’s growing presence in the global tech landscape, with the company continuing to expand its reach and using AI to enhance the speed and accuracy of security audits for major tech companies. Despite the rise of other AI-driven security tools, SecurityPal’s combination of human judgment and automation remains a key differentiator in its field.
