Morocco Advances Trade Modernization with New Digitization Initiative

Morocco is making significant strides toward modernizing its trade legal framework through a new digitization project, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The initiative, launched under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aims to boost the efficiency and competitiveness of Moroccan businesses in global trade.

A delegation from the EBRD met with Abdelilah Hifdi, the president of Morocco’s Federation for Transportation and Logistics, during the Green Impact Expo & Summit 2025. They discussed the ongoing project and its impact on Morocco’s trade landscape.

Catherine Bridge Zoller, Senior Counsel at EBRD, shared insights with Morocco World News (MWN) on the sidelines of the event, explaining that the focus is on aligning Moroccan legislation with the UNCITRAL Model Law on electronic transferable records, which will further streamline the country’s trade processes.
