Minister Khan highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing economic cooperation with Denmark and outlined key engagements, including his upcoming visit to Denmark to deepen relations across multiple sectors.
A key part of the minister’s visit will include discussions with APM Terminals, a subsidiary of Maersk, about the development of a green deep-water container terminal in Karachi under the Pakistan-Denmark Government-to-Government (G2G) Framework. This collaboration aims to enhance maritime cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Khan also highlighted the EU Business Forum scheduled for June 14-15 in Islamabad, which will further facilitate business opportunities and foster economic collaboration with Denmark and other EU countries. Additionally, he invited Danish businesses to explore investment prospects in Pakistan’s agricultural sector, noting that Denmark’s advanced technology could play a critical role in modernizing Pakistan’s agriculture industry.
The bilateral trade between Pakistan and Denmark has seen a remarkable 31% increase in the first eight months of FY 2024-25, with exports from Pakistan growing by 27%, amounting to $207.40 million, and imports from Denmark rising by 42%, reaching $78.59 million. Denmark’s support for Pakistan’s GSP+ status in the EU continues to provide Pakistan with preferential access to European markets.
Denmark also participated in Pakistan’s 2024 Food and Agriculture Exhibition, further strengthening its engagement in Pakistan’s agri-business sector. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to expanding trade relations through strategic collaborations, sustainable investments, and mutual cooperation, paving the way for long-term economic prosperity.
