Saudi Arabia, represented by a national delegation led by the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST), participated in the 2025 Global Youth Summit, held from March 11-13 in Varadero, Cuba. Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the summit focused on the theme “Amplifying Youth Voices in ICT for an Inclusive and Connected Future.” The event was attended by delegations from various countries and UN-affiliated organizations, emphasizing youth empowerment in the communications, space, and technology sectors.

The Saudi delegation played a pivotal role in the summit’s preparation and opening, highlighting the Kingdom’s dedication to empowering youth as a key driver of growth and development in these fields. Ms. Shahad Al-Balawi, Director of International Representation at CST, led the Summit Coordination Team, while Engineer Rakan Al-Anazi represented the Arab Youth Envoys during the summit’s sessions. The Kingdom’s participation also included several panel discussions on important topics such as youth priorities, the digital empowerment of women leaders, and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).

The Global Youth Summit serves as a significant platform for dialogue between youth, stakeholders, and decision-makers. It aims to address the needs and aspirations of young people in the ICT, space, and technology sectors, contributing to their educational, social, and economic development. The summit also encourages youth engagement to tackle emerging digital challenges and fosters collaboration through the ITU’s “Generation Connect” initiative. This initiative includes appointing regional youth envoys to collaborate with the ITU, ensuring that youth-related issues make a meaningful global and regional impact.
