The Traffic Department in Jordan has activated an advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-powered monitoring system aimed at detecting violations related to mobile phone use while driving. This initiative is designed to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by distractions, such as drivers using their phones behind the wheel.
The department emphasized that using a phone while driving is highly dangerous, as it leads to mental distractions, slower reaction times, and increased road deviations, which in turn heighten the risk of accidents. The new system can automatically identify different positions of phone usage while driving, whether the driver is holding the phone or simply looking at it. This allows for precise enforcement of violations without the need for direct human intervention.
The system operates under the slogan, “Because your life is more important,” emphasizing the significance of reducing distractions and enhancing driver awareness for safer roads in Jordan.
