Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, met with Asmaa Shalabi, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to Bahrain. During the meeting, the Minister highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to deepening cooperation with the United Nations, particularly in the sectors of transportation, telecommunications, and digital transformation. This aligns with the Kingdom’s Economic Vision and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
The two sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in areas such as technological innovation, digital infrastructure development, and national capacity-building. They also reviewed support for joint programmes and initiatives that are part of the Strategic Partnership Framework for Sustainable Development (SPF) 2025-2029.
Shalabi expressed her appreciation for Bahrain’s strong commitment to the SDGs, especially in the key sectors of transportation and telecommunications. She wished continued progress and prosperity for the Kingdom and its people.
