Bahrain Joins IPCSA to Strengthen Digital Transformation and Logistics Integration

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in Bahrain has officially become a member of the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA), advancing the Kingdom’s role in digital transformation and logistics integration. Bader Hood Al Mahmood, Undersecretary for Ports and Maritime Affairs, met virtually with IPCSA officials to discuss cooperation in supporting Bahrain’s position as a regional logistics hub.

Al Mahmood emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to improving its logistics services, particularly in customs and maritime operations, and enhancing its ranking in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index. The Kingdom’s membership in IPCSA supports its ongoing efforts to digitalize port and logistics services.

Nico De Cauwer, Secretary-General of IPCSA, welcomed Bahrain’s accession, recognizing the Kingdom’s potential to benefit from global best practices in trade facilitation and digital integration in maritime transport. IPCSA’s role in developing Port Community Systems (PCS) and Single Window platforms will provide Bahrain with new opportunities to enhance cross-border cargo movement through streamlined digital exchanges.

This membership aligns with Bahrain’s broader efforts to improve inter-agency coordination across the supply chain, including the “Ofoq 2” initiative, which simplifies and accelerates import and export procedures through a unified platform connecting relevant government entities.
