Riyadh – The International Code Council (ICC), a global leader in model codes, standards, and building safety solutions, is set to play a prominent role at three of Saudi Arabia’s major industry gatherings this September: Intersec Saudi Arabia, the Building Envelope Design and Insulation Conference (BEDIC), and the MEP International Conference (MEPIC).
The ICC’s engagement underscores its commitment to advancing Saudi Arabia’s sustainable construction agenda, enhancing building safety, and aligning local regulations with international best practices in support of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Focus on Sustainable Envelopes and Smart Standards
At BEDIC 2025, ICC’s MENA Managing Director Mohamed Amer will join the opening panel, “Regulating Smart and Sustainable Envelopes – Evolving Standards for Saudi Arabia’s Tech-Driven Future” on September 10. Discussions will center on streamlining smart envelope regulations, benchmarking performance for energy efficiency and fire safety, and strengthening alignment with global codes.
Driving MEP Innovation
Amer will also represent ICC at MEPIC 2025, marking the Council’s second consecutive year of participation. He will moderate a panel on “Design Meets MEP Engineering: Exploring the Rise of Modular and Prefabricated MEP Systems in Building Construction.” The session will explore how modular systems can reduce costs, accelerate project timelines, and improve quality by leveraging BIM, AI, and automation.
Leadership at Intersec Saudi Arabia
At Intersec Saudi Arabia, ICC leaders including Paul Sincaglia, Chief Fire Protection Engineer, and Beth Tubbs, Vice President of Codes Development, will engage with over 27,000 industry professionals and policymakers. Sessions will address:
- Updates to the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and Saudi Fire Code (SFC), with emphasis on compliance strategies for industrial facilities.
- The evolving role of women leaders in fire protection and life safety, highlighting inclusion and innovation in a traditionally male-dominated field.
Strategic Partnerships
Amer noted that ICC works closely with the Saudi Building Code Center (SBCC) and the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing (MOMAH) to tailor building codes to Saudi needs. “Saudi Arabia is rapidly advancing its fire and life safety framework as part of building smarter and more resilient cities. At Intersec, ICC is committed to sharing global expertise while supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 ambitions,” he said.
Through these platforms, ICC is reinforcing its role as a key partner in Saudi Arabia’s regulatory excellence, innovation in design, and sustainable construction practices, while showcasing the Kingdom’s progress in resilience and inclusion.
