Casablanca – September 30, 2025 – Morocco hosted Schneider Electric’s first Innovation Day in Casablanca, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, and innovators to accelerate Africa’s transition toward green energy, digitalization, and industrial modernization.
Opening the event, Diaretou Madina Gaye Dieng, President for Francophone Africa and Islands at Schneider Electric, emphasized the importance of aligning public and private actors around a shared ambition: accelerating energy, digital, and industrial transformation. She praised Morocco’s leadership in renewable energy, noting its target of reaching 52% of electricity capacity from renewables by 2030.
Morocco’s Strategic Vision
Fadil Youcef, Director General of Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, highlighted Morocco’s long-standing commitment to energy transition, guided by King Mohammed VI since the early 2000s. He noted that renewables already account for 40% of the energy mix, with future plans integrating 5G, automation, and digital infrastructure to prepare for industrial transformation.
Brahim Benmoussa, Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment, outlined Morocco’s three-pillar action plan:
- Expanding renewable energy to 52% by 2030.
- Digitalizing strategic infrastructure to enhance resilience.
- Deepening integration into global value chains to promote technology transfer, innovation, and wealth creation.
Partnerships and Innovation
A key milestone was the signing of a partnership between Schneider Electric, the Ministry of Industry, and FENELEC, aimed at boosting local industrial integration, job creation, and innovation.
French Ambassador Christophe Lecourtier underscored the strength of French-Moroccan cooperation in the energy and digital sectors, while Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman of Schneider Electric, highlighted the urgency of doubling energy access in Africa while reducing carbon emissions. He pointed to AI, data-driven infrastructure, and electrification as mature solutions ready to balance sustainability with profitability.
Showcasing Future Solutions
The event featured an Innovation Hub Reveal with pavilions such as Infrastructure of the Future, AI-Ready Data Center, Buildings of the Future, Industries of the Future, Grid of the Future, and Trusted Information and Insights. These showcased how AI and smart infrastructure can drive efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability.
By hosting Innovation Day, Morocco reinforced its position as a regional hub for green energy leadership and digital innovation, with the event symbolizing its ambition to combine economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social well-being.
