Ericsson and e& UAE Sign Multi-Year Deal to Upgrade 5G Core Network

Ericsson has entered into a multi-year agreement with e& UAE to upgrade the telecom operator’s 5G core network, enhancing support for advanced use cases such as immersive gaming and mission-critical IoT services. The partnership was officially announced during GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai.

As part of the agreement, e& UAE will deploy key components of Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G Core solution, including IMS, Unified Data Management (UDM), User Data Consolidation (UDC), and Secure Entitlement Server (SES). These applications will operate on a hybrid setup combining Ericsson’s cloud-native infrastructure with e&’s in-house cloud environment.

Khaled Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Core Networks and Platforms at e& UAE, said the upgrade will deliver ultra-low latency, consistent service quality, and personalized connectivity—paving the way for next-generation applications across gaming, smart industry, and public services. “It lets us launch new services sooner, reduce delays, and improve call quality,” he noted.

Petra Schirren, President of Ericsson Gulf at Ericsson Europe, Middle East, and Africa, said the collaboration will bring automation, continuous software optimization, and platform stability to e&’s 5G infrastructure. “This agreement enables secure, high-performance connectivity to drive innovation across industries and unlock new 5G use cases,” she added.

The partnership builds on a previous 5G UDM contract signed between Ericsson and e& in 2020, further reinforcing their long-term commitment to advancing digital connectivity in the UAE.
