AQABA – October 27, 2025: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II inaugurated the Aqaba Digital Hub, Jordan’s first fully integrated digital infrastructure project and one of the largest data and technology facilities in the Middle East.
Located in Aqaba, the hub is designed to position Jordan as a regional digital gateway linking Asia, Africa, and Europe through cutting-edge data, cloud, and AI technologies — marking a pivotal step in the Kingdom’s digital transformation journey.
Developed entirely through Jordanian expertise, the 17,000-square-meter facility has an operational capacity of up to 12 megawatts and is built to host AI-driven and emerging digital services.
During his tour, Crown Prince Al Hussein was briefed by Eyad Abu Khorma, Chairman and CEO of Aqaba Digital Hub, who highlighted that the site includes Jordan’s first open-access marine cable landing station, providing direct international connectivity. Currently linked via three submarine cables, with two more under construction, the hub will significantly enhance regional digital resilience and data redundancy.
The project also includes Jordan’s first neutral data exchange center, a cybersecurity operations center (SOC), and infrastructure to support public and private cloud services. These systems make it a secure hosting environment for government, financial, and enterprise data, meeting the highest standards of reliability and transparency.
Beyond its technological infrastructure, the hub integrates training facilities for youth in AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics, alongside dedicated spaces for digital content creation and gaming industries — underscoring Jordan’s drive to cultivate local innovation and digital skills.
Abu Khorma emphasized that the Aqaba Digital Hub will “serve as the backbone of Jordan’s digital economy,” attracting foreign investment and entrepreneurial ventures while enabling seamless regional connectivity.
The inauguration aligns with Jordan’s National Digital Transformation Strategy, reinforcing the country’s vision for a sustainable, knowledge-based economy and advancing its position as a regional technology leader.
Crown Prince Al Hussein was joined by Shadi Majali, Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, and Zaid Baqain, Director of the Office of the Crown Prince — reflecting the project’s strategic national importance in Jordan’s long-term economic and digital growth plans.
