Egypt’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation has ordered the blocking of the Roblox game across the country, citing concerns related to children’s online safety. The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is coordinating the technical implementation of the decision.
Essam Al Amir, Vice President of the council, stated that the action followed discussions during a parliamentary session focused on the risks associated with children’s use of the internet and social media platforms. Roblox was specifically identified as a platform requiring immediate intervention.
Authorities confirmed that close coordination is underway between the council and the NTRA to complete the necessary technical measures to enforce the block nationwide.
Egypt has increasingly stepped up its focus on online safety measures for minors, particularly in relation to interactive gaming and social platforms that allow user-generated content and communication features.
