Jordan and India are strengthening cooperation across trade, digital technology, renewable energy, and infrastructure, according to Indian Ambassador to Jordan Manish Chauhan.
In remarks to the Jordan News Agency, Chauhan described bilateral relations as longstanding and built on mutual trust, spanning political, economic, defense, security, cultural, and educational collaboration. He noted that regular political dialogue continues, referencing the fourth round of foreign ministry consultations held in Amman in April 2025 and a fifth round planned in New Delhi.
Chauhan highlighted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Jordan as a milestone event marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. During the visit, Modi praised the leadership of King Abdullah II and described the partnership as strong and rooted in deep cultural ties. He also acknowledged Jordan’s growing role as a regional bridge connecting markets and enabling economic growth.
Discussions between the two leaders emphasized expanding cooperation in renewable energy, water management, digital transformation, cultural exchange, and heritage.
India is currently Jordan’s third-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade valued at approximately $2.8 billion. Both countries aim to double this figure to $5 billion within the next five years.
Emerging areas for business collaboration include digital public infrastructure, fintech, health-tech, agri-tech, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, green mobility, agriculture, food processing, and heritage tourism.
On regional issues, Chauhan reaffirmed India’s longstanding support for Palestine, noting that India was among the first non-Arab countries to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization in the 1970s and the Palestinian state in 1988.
