Oman: Environment Authority achieves 100% digital transformation

Oman’s Environment Authority (EA) has completed its full digital transformation through cloud hosting, marking a major milestone in the country’s transition toward smart and sustainable government operations.

The authority stated that digitisation and data-driven processes now form the foundation for environmental policy development and decision-making. The move to cloud infrastructure has improved operational efficiency, strengthened cybersecurity readiness and reduced energy consumption by lowering reliance on traditional data centres.

The transformation was carried out under the Government Digital Transformation Programme 2021–2025 and included the development of core service systems aimed at enhancing user experience, as well as platforms for managing radioactive sources, internal resources and operational processes. The EA also launched the National Air Quality Index Platform (Naqi) to strengthen environmental monitoring and support data-informed governance.

Officials described the initiative as a significant step toward building a resilient, secure and sustainable digital government ecosystem aligned with Oman’s long-term environmental and digital transformation goals.
