Es’hailSat and EgyptSat sign multi-year capacity deal to expand VSAT coverage across MENA

Qatar Satellite Company (Es’hailSat) and EgyptSat have signed a multi-year satellite capacity agreement under which EgyptSat will use Es’hail-1 capacity to deliver VSAT services to customers in Egypt and across the broader MENA region, the companies announced.

The agreement extends a partnership established between the two operators last year, moving from a general cooperation framework into a commercial capacity arrangement. Under the deal, both companies will also collaborate on training, pricing and preferred partner arrangements, broadening the relationship beyond infrastructure access.

“Our satellite services remain dedicated to providing flexible and secure communications,” said Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari, CEO of Es’hailSat. “We are committed to expanding our portfolio of VSAT and managed services to meet the aspirations of our key clients.”

VSAT connectivity is of particular strategic value across MENA given the region’s geography. Oil platforms in the Gulf, mining operations in North Africa and enterprise sites in areas with limited terrestrial infrastructure all rely on satellite-based connectivity for continuous operations. The technology also underpins emergency communications and government networks in markets where fibre rollout remains uneven.

Es’hailSat operates the Es’hail-1 and Es’hail-2 geostationary satellites, covering a footprint that spans the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and parts of Asia. EgyptSat brings ground infrastructure and an established customer base in Egypt, one of the region’s largest satellite services markets given its scale and the uneven distribution of fixed broadband infrastructure outside major urban centres.

The agreement positions both companies as complementary players in a MENA satellite services market that is increasingly contested by low Earth orbit providers including SpaceX’s Starlink, which has been expanding its presence in select regional markets.
