Ooredoo and DE-CIX connect Doha IX to Marseille for global interconnectivity

Ooredoo has partnered with DE-CIX to connect the Doha Internet Exchange (Doha IX) to DE-CIX Marseille, enhancing international connectivity and expanding interconnection capabilities for Qatar and the wider region.

The integration enables direct traffic exchange between Doha and one of Europe’s key interconnection hubs, improving latency, network performance, and access to global content and cloud providers. The move is expected to benefit enterprises, service providers, and digital platforms by offering more efficient routing and reduced dependence on indirect international pathways.

Doha IX serves as a central exchange point for internet traffic within Qatar, and its connection to Marseille strengthens its role as a regional digital gateway. Marseille, meanwhile, is a major interconnection hub linking Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia through extensive subsea cable systems.

The partnership reflects growing demand for high-performance interconnection infrastructure, as data traffic continues to rise due to cloud adoption, streaming, and digital services.

Ooredoo’s collaboration with DE-CIX aligns with broader efforts to enhance network resilience, improve user experience, and support the expansion of digital ecosystems across the region.

Editor’s Note:
Interconnection partnerships are becoming critical to regional digital competitiveness. Linking Doha IX to Marseille positions Qatar more firmly within global data routes, strengthening its role in cross-continental traffic flows.
