Zain Jordan and Ericsson expand BSS modernisation to postpaid and 5G monetisation

Zain Jordan and Ericsson have launched the next phase of their business support systems modernisation programme, extending the transformation to the operator’s postpaid business and strengthening its cloud-native IT architecture for 5G monetisation, real-time data operations and more personalised digital services.

The expanded programme deepens the companies’ existing partnership and broadens the BSS transformation across both prepaid and postpaid segments.

The project includes an upgrade of Ericsson Billing on Red Hat OpenShift within Zain Jordan’s private cloud, deployment of Ericsson’s Telco DataOps Platform, and the introduction of catalog and order management capabilities for postpaid products.

Postpaid added to BSS transformation

The latest phase extends the modernisation programme to Zain Jordan’s postpaid line of business, giving the operator a more consistent commercial architecture across customer segments.

The move is intended to support new revenue streams while making it easier for Zain Jordan to introduce and manage new digital services.

For telecom operators, extending BSS modernisation across prepaid and postpaid can reduce fragmentation between customer segments and simplify the way products, billing and service orders are managed.

Billing moves to cloud-native architecture

A central part of the programme is the upgrade of Ericsson Billing on Red Hat OpenShift in Zain Jordan’s private cloud.

The deployment is designed to improve speed, scalability and cost efficiency while providing a more agile foundation for 5G monetisation.

He said moving toward a cloud-native, data-driven architecture would also help establish a future-ready foundation for the 5G era.

Ahsan Quaderi, country manager and head of sales at Ericsson Jordan, said the expanded deployment would support Zain Jordan with more agile, efficient and scalable technology across its IT environment.

The companies said the modernisation is intended to support differentiated connectivity-based services, new 5G revenue streams and improved digital experiences for subscribers.
