Huawei has successfully concluded its 2024-2025 Middle East and Central Asia (ME&CA) ICT Competition with a grand Regional Finals Awards Ceremony held in Riyadh, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Huawei ICT Academy in the region. The event celebrated outstanding performances across multiple tracks, including Cloud, Network, Computing, and Innovation, recognizing the achievements of students and instructors from leading regional institutions.
This year, a team from Jordan won the grand prize in the Network track, while two student teams from Lebanon secured top honors in the Cloud and Computing tracks. In the Innovation Competition, a team from Qatar was awarded the Grand Prize for their project, “Be My Sense.” The First Prize category was shared among teams from Saudi Arabia for their project “NABEEH,” Uzbekistan for “Volta,” and Pakistan for “PRISM.”
Second prizes were given to a Kazakhstani team for their project “Plantos,” a Jordanian team for “3asheq Huawei,” an Iraqi team for “EcoGuardians,” and another Saudi team for “CS2R.” The team behind “NABEEH” also received special recognition, winning the “Most Popular Team” award after garnering the most votes from event attendees.
Muhammad Zubair, Consultant at the Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science, was awarded the inaugural Grand Prize for Instructors, a new category introduced at this year’s Huawei ICT Competition finals.
Steven Yi, President of Huawei ME&CA, emphasized the crucial role of ICT talent in digital transformation, stating, “ICT talents are the lifeblood of digital transformation. We gathered at this prestigious ceremony to invest in young people, who are the future of our nations.” He also revealed that Huawei will launch the “T.H.E. Gold Talent” program in 2025, designed to meet the demands of the AI Era. The program will focus on advanced AI courses and incorporate emerging technologies like 5G-A, cloud, and AI-based ICT education to help transform higher education and foster more competitive digital talent in the region.
The awards ceremony also recognized key partners, including King Saud University, the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Polytechnic, and the Khawarizmi Institute of Science and Technology, for their continuous efforts in driving digital transformation.
This year’s Huawei ICT Competition attracted 31,000 students from 640 universities and colleges across 19 countries in the region. The competition saw 290 participants in the Innovation Track and 30,900 participants in Practice Competitions, who underwent rigorous assessments through written exams, hands-on lab work, and both online and onsite defense rounds. The event has garnered support from UNESCO and over 40 regional ministries, operators, and industry partners, highlighting its growing influence in the region’s tech education landscape.
