Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with Sangboo Kim, Vice President of the World Bank for Digital Transformation, to discuss enhancing collaboration on Egypt’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.
The meeting focused on advancing digital infrastructure, improving digital skills, and raising digital awareness. Talaat outlined Egypt’s Digital Egypt Strategy, which aims to leverage technology to improve various sectors, drive government digitization, and foster innovation. He emphasized the strategy’s role in preparing the youth for future job opportunities and enhancing access to digital platforms.
Talaat also highlighted initiatives like the extension of fiber optics and the replacement of outdated copper cables to improve connectivity across the country. He praised the World Bank’s support in advancing Egypt’s digital infrastructure and transformation goals. Vice President Kim recognized Egypt’s progress, noting the alignment with the World Bank’s objectives to reduce the digital divide, improve cybersecurity, and promote the use of AI.
The discussion also covered future collaborations, including expanding submarine cables, data centers, and nationwide internet services to ensure broader digital inclusion. Both parties acknowledged the significant strides made in digital governance and real estate wealth management.
