Qatar Airways Cargo Partners with Unilode to Lead ULD Digitalisation in the Aviation Industry

Qatar Airways Cargo has entered a partnership with Unilode Aviation Solutions to digitalise the airline’s fleet of over 42,000 Unit Load Devices (ULD). This collaboration represents the largest ULD digitalisation programme ever undertaken by an airline.

Through this partnership, Qatar Airways Cargo will leverage Unilode’s advanced digitalisation capabilities to gain real-time visibility into ULD locations, sensory data, and asset utilisation rates. The integration of Unilode’s digital technologies will help Qatar Airways Cargo streamline operations, optimise resources, increase revenue opportunities, and enhance overall performance.

Unilode’s tag and reader network will be expanded to support the carriage of ULDs across Qatar Airways’ global passenger and cargo network. This network will be supported by E-ULD, Unilode’s in-house developed mobile app and web portal, providing real-time tracking and visibility of ULDs. Unilode’s Enterprise Data Warehouse and customer portal will also give Qatar Airways Cargo enhanced data analytics to improve ULD utilisation and reduce operational costs.

Mark Drusch, Chief Officer of Cargo at Qatar Airways, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating: “We are excited to join forces with Unilode to embark on this groundbreaking transformative digital journey. Our shared vision for ULD digitalisation and innovation will set new benchmarks in the air cargo industry for operational excellence, increasing asset utilisation, reducing costs, and fostering a more sustainable operation.”

Ross Marino, CEO of Unilode, highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying: “Our collaboration with Qatar Airways Cargo represents a major digital milestone in the industry. We are committed to providing technology-based solutions that will reshape ULD digitalisation, contributing to a more connected, efficient, and sustainable aviation ecosystem.”

The partnership marks a significant step forward in ULD digitalisation and is expected to transform the way the aviation industry manages and utilises cargo assets.
