The General Authority for Media Regulation in Saudi Arabia has reinforced its stance that professional registration is a mandatory requirement for all media practitioners before engaging in any media-related work. The authority announced it will take legal action against individuals who operate without proper registration as part of its efforts to ensure an organized media environment, safeguard professionals’ rights, and combat the impersonation of media personnel.
The authority also emphasized that regulations will be applied to both unregistered media practitioners and media organizations employing such individuals. This initiative is in line with the authority’s broader goal to improve governance in the media sector, enhance its efficiency, and protect the public from misleading and unethical media practices.
Media practitioners have been urged to adhere to the professional conduct regulations, with the warning that violations may lead to suspension or revocation of professional certification. The authority further clarified that continuing to work in media after the expiration of a professional license without renewal will be considered a violation, subject to prescribed penalties.
