The World Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB) has appointed Dr. Khalid Al-Ghazzawi, CEO of Ebdaa Microfinance Company – Bahrain, to its Board of Directors for the sixth term, running from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2028.
With over 25 years of experience in the financial and banking sectors, particularly in microfinance, Dr. Al-Ghazzawi will play a key role in advancing the Union’s mission. He will focus on strengthening regional collaboration among financial institutions, driving microfinance initiatives, and contributing to policy-making processes aimed at improving the banking sector across the Arab world.
Dr. Al-Ghazzawi expressed his honor at the appointment and his commitment to supporting the Union’s objectives, promoting financial inclusion, and furthering innovation in the Arab banking sector. His first engagement in this capacity will be at the WUAB Board of Directors’ meeting during the Arab Banking Conference in Cairo, Egypt, later this month.
Dr. Wissam Fattouh, WUAB Secretary-General, congratulated Dr. Al-Ghazzawi for his significant contributions to financial inclusion and modernizing the Arab banking industry, acknowledging the importance of his leadership in fostering economic and social development throughout the region.
