Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s leading connectivity provider, celebrated Vesak by merging tradition with technology through its innovative Data Dansala initiative. Held on May 12 and 13, the campaign provided over 21,000 Vesak attendees with 1GB of free mobile data each by scanning QR codes at seven key locations across Colombo.
This seasonal activation is an extension of Dialog’s pioneering QR reload platform—the first in Sri Lanka to enable mobile top-ups via QR codes. By incorporating this simple digital gesture into Vesak celebrations, Dialog promoted the spirit of sharing and community while helping people stay connected during the festivities.
Participating locations included the Dialog Head Office, Bauddhaloka Vesak Zone, multiple Dialog Customer Service Centres, and the Colombo Municipal Council. Dialog’s Data Dansala reflects its ongoing commitment to making technology accessible, meaningful, and integrated into culturally significant moments.
