Turkcell, in partnership with Huawei, has successfully completed the world’s first field trial of a Full Duplex Radio Link solution, reaching a record-breaking speed of 50 Gbps on the E-band (80 GHz) spectrum. This cutting-edge technology marks a major breakthrough in wireless transmission and represents a pivotal advancement for the future of 5G infrastructure.
The innovative Full Duplex Radio Link solution, developed jointly by Turkcell and Huawei, is designed to be integrated into 5G networks. Utilizing a high-isolation integrated antenna structure, enhanced spectrum efficiency, and sophisticated interference prevention algorithms, this technology enables simultaneous transmission and reception of data over the same frequency. This dual operation significantly boosts data efficiency and network performance compared to traditional microwave links.
Prof. Dr. Vehbi Çağrı Güngör, Chief Technology Officer at Turkcell, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding fiber deployment and enhancing network capacity through next-generation radio link technologies. “Our vision is to deliver fast, sustainable, and efficient connectivity across all regions of Türkiye, including rural and hard-to-reach areas. This successful trial with Huawei demonstrates our dedication to preparing the country’s digital infrastructure for the future. Thanks to Full Duplex technology, we can now meet growing data demands with speeds of up to 50 Gbps,” he said.
James Zeng, President of Huawei’s Radio Link Product Line, stated, “We are proud to collaborate with Turkcell to achieve the world’s first Full Duplex Radio Link solution. Reaching 50 Gbps on the E-band spectrum accelerates Türkiye’s digital transformation and lays a strong foundation for 5G infrastructure. This breakthrough supports not only technological progress but also economic growth and societal advancement in the country.”
Both Turkcell and Huawei reaffirm their dedication to supporting Türkiye’s digital transformation journey and helping the nation secure a leading position in the global digital landscape.
