Paris-based climate tech company Kumulus Water has secured $3.5 million in seed funding from investors including Bpifrance, PlusVC, Kalys Venture, Flat6Labs, and Spadel to scale its innovative atmospheric water generators (AWGs). Founded by Tunis-born entrepreneurs Iheb Triki and Mohamed Ali Abid, Kumulus develops devices that extract moisture from air and convert it into safe drinking water, ideal for regions with limited infrastructure.
Kumulus’ units produce 20–30 liters of clean water daily, operating on electricity or solar power for off-grid use. Equipped with remote monitoring via web and mobile apps, the systems enable hands-off management critical for deployment in remote or underserved areas across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
The startup plans to accelerate rollout of the higher-capacity Kumulus Boks system for industrial and community-scale applications, expanding operations in France, Spain, Tunisia, and entering Saudi Arabia—a region facing ongoing freshwater scarcity.
Kumulus’ decentralized, sustainable water technology aligns with growing global demand for resilient climate solutions addressing water stress in vulnerable regions.
