Tech industry leaders gathered in Ras Al Khaimah for the ‘Re: Sustainable IT Summit,’ organized by Circular Computing, a British remanufacturer of used laptops with a facility in Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (Rakez). The summit saw participation from 65 global companies, including Microsoft, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Google, and HSBC.
A key highlight was a survey among IT leaders emphasizing the importance of sustainable hardware practices. Circular Computing’s Founder and CEO, Rod Neale, described the summit as a rallying cry for the tech industry to adopt remanufacturing as a path to circularity.
Rakez Group CEO, Ramy Jallad, praised the event for promoting sustainable practices within the tech industry, aligning with global environmental goals and the UAE’s climate initiatives.
Speakers at the event urged stakeholders to consider remanufactured laptops over new ones to reduce e-waste, lower CO2 emissions, and meet 2030 climate targets. Circular Computing recently secured a $33 million contract with the Irish Government to supply remanufactured laptops, highlighting the practical impact of sustainable IT solutions.
