Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, witnessed the signing of a renewed three-year cooperation agreement between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Arish University. The partnership aims to train and qualify approximately 7,200 youth and students across North Sinai Governorate with essential ICT skills to enhance their employability in Egypt and international markets, especially as freelancers.
Signed by ITIDA CEO Ahmed Elzaher and Arish University President Hassan El Demerdash, the agreement focuses on delivering specialized training programs for students at Arish University’s Faculty of Computers and Information as well as youth throughout the governorate. Programs cover summer internships with the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), graduation project support, English proficiency, freelancing skills, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, and soft skills development.
The ICT Minister emphasized that the initiative aims to open broad employment opportunities without requiring relocation, supporting youth entrepreneurial ambitions and IT startup creation. The Ministry also pledges ongoing support to empower the university’s developmental role in North Sinai.
This renewed agreement builds on previous collaboration achievements, including training over 2,200 youth in the first phase, surpassing targets. It also includes preparing certified ICT trainers locally to sustain digital capacity building.
Arish University’s President highlighted the expanded scope and increased beneficiaries, aligning training with labor market needs and youth empowerment efforts. Both parties praised the cooperation as key to advancing technology and development in North Sinai.
