ISLAMABAD — Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the transformative potential of satellite internet to ensure nationwide connectivity across Pakistan, regardless of geographic barriers. She made these remarks while addressing the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB) Industry Roundtable Conference.
Describing the event as more than a routine meeting, the minister called it the beginning of a roadmap for shaping Pakistan’s digital future. “Internet is no longer a luxury — it is a lifeline and a fundamental pillar of national progress,” she stated.
Khawaja praised organizations like the Special Communications Organization (SCO) and the Universal Service Fund (USF) for their efforts in extending internet access to remote areas. She also highlighted the recently passed Digital Nation Act as a landmark achievement in Pakistan’s journey toward a digital economy and governance.
Reiterating Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a fully digital Pakistan, Khawaja noted his leadership in driving progress through the Cashless Economy Task Force. She stressed that universal, reliable, and trustworthy connectivity is essential for true digital development.
The minister called for a unified approach to investor engagement, emphasizing collaboration, real-time coordination, and effective feedback mechanisms to enhance investor satisfaction.
Concluding her remarks, Khawaja underscored the importance of investing in digital literacy alongside infrastructure development to empower citizens to seize the opportunities of the digital age.
