Huawei Nepal has announced the top five student winners of its flagship CSR initiative, the Seeds for the Future 2025 program. These students will represent Nepal at the regional competition scheduled to take place in China in August 2025.
This year’s program attracted over 650 applications from promising university students across Nepal. After a rigorous screening process, 30 students were shortlisted to participate in a comprehensive series of technical trainings, workshops, and cultural exchanges aimed at nurturing the next generation of ICT leaders.
As part of the program, students gained practical exposure by visiting a state-of-the-art data center in Kathmandu, learning about large-scale digital infrastructure operations. They also participated in a UNESCO-organized workshop titled “Leveraging Technology for Multilingualism and Cultural Diversity” at the UN House, which provided a platform for discussions on culture, inclusion, and technology.
Additionally, students visited the China Cultural Center to explore the rich history of Chinese culture and cross-border collaboration in education and innovation. The training phase introduced key digital technologies such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and Clean Energy solutions, preparing participants for the global digital economy.
The final interviews took place on June 25, 2025. Candidates were assessed based on their CVs and core judging criteria, including communication skills, technical aptitude, creative thinking, global awareness, alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), leadership qualities, and personal motivation.
The evaluation jury comprised experts from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, UNESCO, Nepal Telecom, and Huawei Nepal.
After thorough assessment, the five students selected to represent Nepal in the regional round are: Adarsha Shrestha, Apala Timilsina, Dinanath Padhya, Manjila Pandey, and Stuti Dhungana.
In the regional competition, participants will benefit from networking opportunities, mentorship by local and international experts, and real-world business insights through an immersive program. They will also have the unique chance to explore China’s digital ecosystem, visit leading ICT and high-tech enterprises, collaborate with peers from across Asia Pacific to develop tech solutions for global challenges, and engage in interactive sessions with industry leaders shaping the future of technology.
Seeds for the Future Nepal, launched locally in 2019, is part of Huawei’s global CSR program aiming to inspire and empower future technology leaders through a blend of learning, innovation, and cultural exchange. In Nepal, Seeds for the Future offers participants opportunities such as college visits, expert-led workshops, and a dedicated bootcamp, culminating in final interviews and winner announcements. Selected students from Nepal have previously participated in regional rounds in Thailand, Singapore, and now China, gaining invaluable exposure to emerging technologies like cloud computing, digital power, 5G, and AI. The program has directly trained more than 45 students and indirectly influenced over 150 others.
