Algeria Advances 15 Places in ITU’s Global ICT Development Index

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) released its latest ICT Development Index (IDI) in June 2025, ranking Algeria 74th worldwide—an improvement of 15 spots from last year’s 89th position. With a total score of 86.1 points, Algeria surpasses the global average of 78 points, the Arab region average of 77.6, the African countries average of 56.1, and the upper-middle-income group average of 81.1.

The ICT Development Index, recognized as the key global benchmark for assessing ICT progress, evaluates countries based on Universal Connectivity—measuring internet access—and Meaningful Connectivity, which reflects beneficial, affordable internet usage across sectors.

Algeria’s significant rise highlights the nation’s strides in ICT adoption and accessibility, aligning with the vision of its President to expand information and communication technologies throughout the country, ensuring inclusivity regardless of geographic location.
