The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has introduced a new shipping service called ‘AR2 Asia Red Sea,’ operated by Wan Hai Lines Company, connecting Jeddah port to major regional and international destinations. This initiative aims to boost the competitiveness of Saudi ports on the global maritime transport map, streamline trade flows, expand commercial opportunities, and enhance operational efficiency.
The service links Jeddah port with 10 key ports, including Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, and Shekou in China; Port Klang in Malaysia; Aqaba in Jordan; Sokhna and Alexandria in Egypt; and Izmit and Kumport in Turkiye. The route offers a total capacity of 3,700 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
Mawani stated that this development supports the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which targets positioning Saudi Arabia as a leading global logistics hub and a vital connection point between Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Jeddah Islamic Port, the largest port on the Red Sea coast, is strategically located and equipped with 62 multipurpose berths. It plays a crucial role in reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the regional and international maritime sector.
