Eutelsat Partners with Station Satcom to Integrate OneWeb LEO Satellites into Maritime Connectivity

Eutelsat announced on Wednesday a new agreement with India-based maritime communications firm Station Satcom to incorporate Eutelsat’s OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite services into Station Satcom’s maritime connectivity offerings. Station Satcom, a longstanding customer of Eutelsat’s geostationary (GEO) satellite services, will now deploy a multi-orbit solution combining the extensive coverage and reliability of GEO satellites with OneWeb’s high-speed, low-latency LEO capabilities.

This integration aims to provide uninterrupted, seamless connectivity for vessels navigating major shipping routes and remote offshore locations. Station Satcom CEO Anshul Khanna emphasized that the move addresses increasing demand for real-time data, enhanced operational efficiency, and improved crew welfare, supporting the broader digital transformation of global maritime operations.

Khanna described the development as a “game-changer for the maritime sector,” enabling better connectivity for shipowners, crews, and offshore activities. Thierry Polycarpe, Eutelsat’s Vice President of Global Maritime, highlighted that the partnership responds to rising needs for high-performance connectivity at sea.
