Egypt Launches “Digitopia” Competition to Foster Innovation in IT Sector with EGP 10 Million in Prizes

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has announced the launch of “Digitopia,” an annual competition designed to discover and support creative ideas and projects in the information technology sector. With total prizes valued at EGP 10 million, the competition aims to encourage innovation among participants ranging from primary school students to young professionals aged up to 35.

The first edition of Digitopia will run from August 1 to mid-October 2025, with registration open until August 12. It covers diverse fields including software solutions, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, gaming, and digital arts. The initiative is organized by the Ministry’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Information Technology Institute (ITI), National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), and Egypt University of Informatics (EUI).

Communications Minister Amr Talaat emphasized the competition’s role in promoting digital creativity and nurturing a culture of innovation among students and graduates, aligning with Egypt’s vision to build a knowledge-based economy. He highlighted the importance of discovering talent early to prepare a generation capable of driving creativity and technological progress.

The grand prize is EGP 1 million, with additional cash and in-kind awards, alongside specialized training opportunities from local and international tech companies. Participants are grouped into four categories: primary school (grades 4-6), preparatory and secondary school (grades 7-12), university students, and graduates up to age 35.

The competition will proceed through stages including registration, idea submission, development of technological solutions, judging by experts, and a final awards ceremony.
