Ooredoo Kuwait has teamed up with Ericsson to upgrade its charging system, enhancing its capabilities for the 5G era. The upgrade, hosted on Ericsson’s Cloud Native Infrastructure (CNIS), involves deploying the latest Ericsson Charging release, including the cloud-native Charging Access Function (CAF). This modernization will enable Ooredoo Kuwait to offer advanced 5G services, unlock new business opportunities, and implement competitive marketing strategies.
Ericsson Charging is a scalable, cloud-native solution focused on user experience and future-proofing. It supports real-time convergent charging, policy control, and rapid service creation, allowing Ooredoo to offer flexible packages, promotions, and discounts to subscribers. This platform also facilitates monetization of advanced 5G features and supports innovative and differentiated 5G use cases in Kuwait.
Ericsson’s CNIS delivers a standards-based, simplified on-premises cloud infrastructure optimized for virtual and cloud-native 5G applications. By deploying containers as a service (CaaS) on bare metal servers without virtualization overhead, it offers enhanced efficiency and streamlined architecture.
Issa Haider, CTO of Ooredoo Kuwait, said the deployment empowers better monetization of 5G offerings and enriches customer experience, marking a key milestone in the company’s digital transformation. Petra Schirren, President of Ericsson Gulf, emphasized the partnership’s role in driving regional innovation and delivering advanced connectivity solutions tailored to evolving customer needs.
