Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a strategic partnership with Philippine telco NOW Telecom to co-design, develop, and deploy a secure, scalable digital infrastructure, including a sovereign data cloud for both public and private sector use.
Revealed on Monday, the collaboration will support national initiatives for data sovereignty, enable operational interoperability for cross-agency collaboration, strengthen resilience against cyber threats, and reduce foreign dependency to safeguard critical systems during crises.
As part of the agreement, NOW Telecom will implement TCS’ Sovereign Secure Cloud solution to establish a local cloud infrastructure ensuring domestic data control, AI infrastructure development, operational continuity, and local capability-building. The setup will align with the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) clean network principles.
TCS will also deploy its Cyber Defense Suite to bolster the country’s critical infrastructure protection, offering advanced cyber intelligence, resilience measures, vendor risk management, and identity security protocols.
Beyond infrastructure, TCS and NOW Telecom plan to leverage the platform to co-create citizen-focused services, including digital private infrastructure, healthcare systems, and digital banking solutions.
NOW Group chairman Mel Velarde said the alliance represents “a significant step towards enhancing our national digital sovereignty and reducing reliance on foreign technologies,” adding that the partnership will defend against risks while delivering a robust, secure, and scalable data ecosystem for the nation.
