Salalah Conference Charts Path for Oman’s Digital Transition and Sustainable Leadership

A recent conference in Salalah on government digital transition and sustainable leadership, held alongside the 2025 Labour Forum, issued a set of recommendations to strengthen labour market governance, build national competencies, and accelerate digitisation in government and service sectors. The 3-day event brought together experts and officials from Oman and other GCC states.

The recommendations focused on four main themes. First, labour market governance should be advanced through stronger collaboration with the private sector, business owners, and academic institutions, enabling integrated policymaking and more flexible employment programmes.

Second, building national competencies and fostering entrepreneurship requires specialised training for graduates and national talent, with an emphasis on green and digital transitions, innovation, and entrepreneurial projects.

Third, the conference urged investment in digital infrastructure, wider adoption of electronic authentication and signatures, and leadership development in digital fields.

Fourth, it called for leveraging an interactive electronic platform to share conference materials, presentations, and recommendations with participants and stakeholders.

The closing session addressed smart management, highlighting how artificial intelligence can enhance transparency, support decision-making, and accelerate institutional digital transition. The Ministry of Labour presented a practical example of smart management, showcasing how technology can be transformed into future opportunities.
