Algeria’s TKAWEN Global Certification (TGC), led by founder and CEO Yaakoub Hartem, has climbed from 7th to 3rd place worldwide among digital certification startups on F6S, the world’s largest startup network. The leap underscores Africa’s growing capacity to innovate on a global stage.
Founded in 2023 under Ministerial Decree 1275 of Algeria’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, TKAWEN’s mission is to democratise access to verifiable, sovereign, and globally recognised professional credentials. From its base in Annaba, TKAWEN now serves universities, training institutions, government agencies, and corporations worldwide.
TGC operates on four pillars:
- Data Sovereignty – Hosting credential data within Algerian jurisdiction while ensuring global interoperability.
- Blockchain Verification – Time-stamped, encrypted certificates that are instantly verifiable anywhere.
- AI-Driven Assessments – Adaptive testing for fair, skill-based evaluation.
- Lifelong Learning Integration – Credentials linked to ongoing professional development.
This approach challenges legacy systems dominated by foreign commercial providers, prioritising trust, security, and accessibility.
Alongside TGC, the company powers Algeria Certify, the nation’s first official digital credential verification hub. It facilitates government-backed certification issuance, instant verification for employers and agencies worldwide, and secure archival to prevent fraud or loss — positioning Algeria as a North African leader in education modernisation.
