Zong 4G to Discontinue Legacy Value-Added Services from September 15

ISLAMABAD – Zong 4G has announced that it will retire several long-standing Value-Added Services (VAS) effective September 15, 2025, as part of a broader service optimization plan aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience.

In SMS notifications sent to subscribers, the telecom operator confirmed that popular services such as Daily MusiCall, Dedication Services, Eid Greeting, Eid Messenger, Free SMS, Islam Seekhiye IVR, Karachi Stock Exchange Updates, and Paktel Cricket Club will no longer be available after the cut-off date. Zong thanked users for availing these services over the years and encouraged customers to reach out to its helpline for assistance.

The operator stressed that the discontinuation applies only to legacy VAS products and will not affect its core mobile offerings, including voice, SMS, and data bundles. Instead, the move reflects a shift in consumer behavior, as smartphone apps, social media platforms, and internet-based services increasingly replace SMS alerts, IVR content, and basic entertainment subscriptions.

Industry analysts note that telecom companies in Pakistan are pivoting toward data-centric services such as streaming bundles, cloud offerings, and digital financial solutions. The change underscores Zong’s strategy to align with modern consumer preferences and the country’s broader digital transformation.

Zong has recently expanded its portfolio with new packages like the Monthly Pro Max Plus, which provides 200GB of data, unlimited calls, and added perks such as Golootlo discounts, Waada Insurance, and access to Zong TV. By phasing out outdated services and focusing on advanced digital solutions, the company is seeking to streamline its product range and cater to Pakistan’s increasingly tech-savvy customer base.
