Oman Signs Agreements to Launch High-Tech Satellite in 2026

Muscat, September 9, 2025 – Oman Lens has signed cooperation agreements with multiple companies to launch an Omani satellite in the first half of 2026, marking a milestone in the Sultanate’s growing role in space technology and digital innovation.

The new satellite will feature high-resolution imaging technology with a panchromatic resolution of 50 cm, alongside multispectral imaging capabilities in RGB and NIR bands. It will also include an onboard artificial intelligence platform capable of executing more than 400 trillion operations per second, enabling advanced data processing directly in orbit.

The satellite is designed to strengthen Oman’s technological infrastructure, providing critical applications in environmental monitoring, urban planning, resource management, and disaster response. The project aligns with national efforts to advance artificial intelligence and space capabilities while supporting the GCC’s broader technology ambitions.

By leveraging AI-driven imaging and analytics, the satellite is expected to enhance data-driven decision-making across government and private sectors, contributing to economic diversification and regional competitiveness in space and digital technologies.
