Iraq Unveils ‘Tasheel’ Electronic System for Document Authentication

Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has launched Tasheel, a first-of-its-kind electronic system that allows citizens to authenticate official documents securely via mail. The service, inaugurated at the Foreign Ministry’s consular department in Baghdad, was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications.

The initiative aims to streamline bureaucratic processes, reduce reliance on intermediaries, and curb corruption by enabling electronic certification of documents. “This project will serve citizens wherever they are,” Hussein said, emphasizing that the system increases transparency and efficiency.

The minister praised Communications Minister Hayam al-Yasiri and technical teams for their role in bringing the project to fruition, describing it as a model of inter-ministerial cooperation. He noted that Tasheel is part of a broader effort to digitize Foreign Ministry operations and encouraged other government institutions to adopt similar digital transformation measures.
