Algeria’s New Interior and Transport Minister Launches Strategic Review of Transport Sector

In his first official move since taking office, Saïd Sayoud, Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport, convened a high-level coordination meeting on Tuesday to review the state of Algeria’s transport sector and set future priorities. The session, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, brought together CEOs, Directors-General of affiliated institutions, and senior officials.

The meeting was positioned as a strategic turning point aimed at injecting greater dynamism and efficiency into the management of Algeria’s transport infrastructure. Minister Sayoud acknowledged the progress made in maritime, air, and rail transport but stressed the need for closer monitoring and stronger performance in land transport.

He called for a results-oriented approach, urging executives to accelerate decision-making and adopt a practical vision anchored in seriousness and political will. “We must act with urgency and determination to meet the expectations of our nation,” Sayoud affirmed.

The Minister praised the resilience and competence of Algeria’s transport professionals, noting the substantial efforts already invested. However, he underlined that future challenges demand collective perseverance, institutional synergy, and sustained dedication to deliver meaningful improvements for citizens.

Concluding the session, Sayoud framed this new chapter as a transformative one, asserting that the transport sector must play a pivotal role in driving national development, enhancing mobility, and strengthening Algeria’s global connectivity.
