Telecom Egypt Appoints Tamer El Mahdi as CEO to Lead New Phase of Growth

Cairo – September 30, 2025 – Telecom Egypt has appointed Tamer El Mahdi as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Mohamed Nasr, who has stepped down from his executive role and Board membership. The Board also accepted the resignations of VP & Chief Technical Officer Mohamed Al Fowey and VP & Chief Human Resources Officer Ahmed Hassan. El Mahdi will oversee the process of appointing successors to these key roles to ensure continuity and alignment with the company’s long-term strategy.

Lobna Helal, Chairperson of the Board, welcomed the appointment, highlighting El Mahdi’s 30+ years of expertise in telecommunications, IT, digital transformation, and financial services. She emphasized that his proven leadership across multinational and investment firms uniquely positions him to drive Telecom Egypt into a new era of growth, maximize asset value, and strengthen customer service locally and internationally.

Tamer El Mahdi’s Career Highlights

  • Current Roles: Founder & Chairman of Trade Globe and Terrawaves Networks since 2020, leading telecom consultancy and digital infrastructure projects.
  • Former Leadership: Group CEO of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (2014–2019), CEO of Orascom Telecom Algeria (Djezzy) from 2008–2013, and Group CTIO at Orascom Telecom Holding (2003–2008).
  • Earlier Career: Leadership positions at AT&T, managing telecom infrastructure projects across North Africa.
  • Board Experience: Served on the boards of Orascom Telecom, Beltone Financial Holding, Contact Financial Holding, and other leading firms.
  • Academic Background: MBA in International Business Administration (Maastricht School of Management), Master’s in Project Management (George Washington University), Master’s in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (California State University), and a Bachelor’s in the same field (Cairo University).
