Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s leading connectivity provider, has launched a new suite of AI-driven features for its pioneering agriculture advisory platform, Govi Mithuru, making it the country’s first AI-powered digital companion for farmers and home gardeners. With AI Chat, Voice Bot, Image-Based Pest Identification, and an AI Voice Assistant, the platform now delivers smarter, more inclusive farming support across the nation.
Through the Govi Mithuru app, users can engage with a Trilingual AI Chat and Voice Bot in Sinhala, Tamil, or English to receive expert-verified agricultural guidance in real time. A new image-based pest and disease detection tool also allows farmers to upload photos of crops and instantly receive AI-generated diagnoses and treatment recommendations. Both features are available free for the first three months.
For those without smartphones, Dialog has introduced a Bilingual AI Voice Assistant via the Govi Mithuru 616 IVR service, enabling farmers to call and receive instant farming advice in Sinhala or Tamil. This ensures inclusivity by extending the benefits of AI to rural and underserved communities reliant on basic mobile connectivity.
Launched in 2015, Govi Mithuru has become Sri Lanka’s trusted agriculture advisory service, providing guidance on over 32 crops, GAP certification, and future crop planning. It supports both large-scale farmers and home gardeners, helping reduce crop losses, enhance productivity, and promote food security.
“As part of our mission to empower every Sri Lankan through technology, these AI enhancements to Govi Mithuru unlock the potential of smart farming,” said Asanga Priyadarshana, Group Chief Corporate Officer at Dialog Axiata PLC. “By integrating AI, we are providing personalized, real-time agricultural advice to improve livelihoods and ensure sustainable growth in the sector.”
Users can access the new features by downloading the Govi Mithuru app from the Google Play Store or calling 616 to use the AI-powered Voice Assistant. With these advancements, Dialog strengthens its commitment to driving digital inclusion, sustainable farming, and community empowerment in Sri Lanka.
