Cairo, October 7, 2025 — Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has granted licenses to seven international automotive companies to roll out Internet of Things (IoT) vehicle services, marking a major milestone in Egypt’s push toward connected mobility under the Digital Egypt strategy.
The new licenses authorize automakers to integrate IoT technologies that enhance vehicle connectivity, navigation, real-time tracking, and emergency assistance, while ensuring robust data protection and user privacy.
The signing ceremony, witnessed by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, brought together leading automakers, including:
- OnStar (General Motors)
- Mansour MG Automotive (IM brand, China)
- Global Auto (BMW)
- Alpha Ezz El-Arab (Volvo, Aston Martin, Lotus, Lynk & Co)
- Egyptian International Motors (Zeekr, BAIC)
- Egyptian Automotive and Trading Co. (Audi, Škoda)
- SMG Engineering Automotive Co. (Porsche, Scania)

Dr. Talaat emphasized that the integration of AI and IoT technologies represents a transformative step for Egypt’s automotive ecosystem. These services, he noted, will enhance safety, driving comfort, and user convenience, creating a digitally connected driving environment for Egyptian citizens.
By enabling vehicles to communicate seamlessly with digital systems, Egypt is laying the groundwork for smarter, data-driven transportation infrastructure. The NTRA initiative also aligns with broader efforts to ensure secure digital interaction between citizens and connected devices.
