Kuwait underscored its growing commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation during the International Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Digitization and the Gulf Conference on Archiving, Documents, and Archives Management, held under the patronage of Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Khaled Al-Zamel, Chairman of the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), affirmed that Kuwait continues to prioritize advanced national strategies for innovation, infrastructure modernization, and the improvement of government system efficiency in alignment with global digital trends.
He emphasized CITRA’s efforts to develop policies and regulatory frameworks that encourage responsible AI adoption while ensuring cybersecurity and the preservation of ethical and human values.
“AI carries a civilizational responsibility that demands awareness and sound governance,” Dr. Al-Zamel stated. “We are committed to the safe and disciplined integration of emerging technologies in line with international standards.”
The forum, which drew representatives from GCC governments, private enterprises, and academic institutions, served as a platform for global dialogue and cooperation, exploring how AI and digitization can drive administrative efficiency, service quality, and data-informed decision-making across the Gulf region.
Najat Ibrahim, Acting Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology, highlighted that Kuwait’s digital transformation is accelerating under the country’s “New Kuwait 2035” vision. She detailed initiatives such as:
- Transitioning to cloud computing in collaboration with global technology partners.
- Building integrated digital platforms to unify government services.
- Implementing secure APIs to facilitate data sharing and enhance user experience.
She noted that these efforts aim to improve public service delivery, support innovation, and strengthen Kuwait’s digital economy, while ensuring efficient document and archive management to preserve national memory and promote transparency.
The forum concluded with a shared call among participants to advance AI cooperation across GCC countries, translating insights from global experts into actionable projects for a secure, sustainable, and inclusive digital future.
