Algeria Moves Toward eSIM Integration Ahead of 5G Rollout

Algiers — Algeria’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications has announced that the country is preparing to integrate embedded SIM (eSIM) technology as part of its broader digital transformation strategy and ongoing preparations for the national 5G network rollout.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Sidi Ali Zerrouki confirmed on Monday that the introduction of eSIMs represents a key milestone in modernizing Algeria’s telecommunications ecosystem, aligning with the nation’s goal of strengthening digital infrastructure and expanding advanced mobile services.

According to a ministry press release, eSIM integration is a central component of Algeria’s roadmap to enhance connectivity, simplify device activation, and enable seamless switching between network operators — a foundational step toward the upcoming 5G deployment phase.

The move reflects Algeria’s ambition to keep pace with global telecom advancements and accelerate the adoption of next-generation technologies. The eSIM initiative will also support improved service delivery, device interoperability, and greater customer flexibility in managing mobile connectivity.
