Rabat, November 3, 2025 — Morocco marked the opening of the third National Industry Day (JNI) under the theme “Made in Morocco: A Mark of Quality, Competitiveness, and a Lever for Integrated Territorial Development.” The two-day event, inaugurated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), brought together government officials, industrial leaders, and innovators to reaffirm the country’s commitment to industrial sovereignty, job creation, and sustainable growth.
Industry as an Engine for Jobs and Exports
Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch opened the event, highlighting industry as a “core pillar of the employment battle.” Industrial jobs have nearly doubled in a decade, reaching 985,000 in 2024, with 46,000 new jobs added in the past year alone. Industrial output grew 3.8% in 2024 and is expected to reach 4.8% by year-end.
Exports have surged 64% since 2019, from MAD 243 billion to over MAD 398 billion, with manufactured goods now representing 87% of total exports. Morocco has emerged as Africa’s top car producer and Europe’s largest supplier of combustion-engine vehicles, ranking 12th globally for medium- and high-tech industrial production, according to WIPO’s 2025 Innovation Index.
Reforms, Investment, and Green Energy
Akhannouch outlined reforms to make Morocco more investor-friendly, including updates to the Investment Charter, simplified taxation and procurement systems, and liquidity injections to support industry. Over MAD 30 billion in VAT refunds and 41 billion in energy subsidies were provided between 2022 and 2024, while electricity prices were stabilized for manufacturers.
The Prime Minister also announced a 5-gigawatt clean energy plan by 2030 as part of the “Morocco Offer” for green hydrogen, positioning the country as a hub for clean production and sustainable exports.
Five Key Industry Agreements Signed
The opening day also saw the signing of five strategic agreements to accelerate industrial innovation and competitiveness:
- “Made in Morocco” Label: A new national certification for quality and product origin to boost local brand confidence.
- Tatwir-R&D and Innovation Extension (2026–2028): A MAD 900 million program expansion to include gaming startups and advanced manufacturing.
- Machinery Tooling & Automation Cluster (MTA): A five-year partnership to strengthen Morocco’s industrial machinery ecosystem.
- Local Pharmaceutical Inputs Initiative: A plan to localize drug ingredient manufacturing and safeguard supply chains.
